Keswick 06
1st-2nd August 2006
Nia was delighted to be invited to sing at Keswick 06, a Christian convention in the Lake District, during the third week of this annual event. Nia has been to the convention many times before as a delegate, but this was the first time she has taken part. Nia’s name would have been new to many of the convention-goers, so to give them a taste of things to come, Nia sang to 2000 people at the Tuesday evening session, with her recently re-recorded favourite ‘Martha’.
Nia was also a hit with the Keswick Youth, giving an impromptu performance and embarrassing Dave Fenton, Director of Programming, in the process, with her infamous ‘Shut De Door’. Dave coped admirably!
The main event for Nia was a concert on the Wednesday afternoon, which despite the stormy weather was a huge success. Nia sang some of her classics and a selection from her new album ‘Cappuccino Girls’, including All of Me, Ruth’s Song and Miriam’s Dance, which has recently been voted number one on UCB Europe. The audience enjoyed Nia’s anecdotes between songs and were amazed by her vocal talent.
It is hoped that this will be the first of many visits to Keswick for Nia.
